Why I write about Destiny, fate, and luck

As the author of The Destiny Book: Rediscovering the Mother of Spirituality (History and Mystery of the All-Connecting Cosmic Thread) *, I examine Destiny, the apex of faiths and philosophies, and relevant phenomenal forces through the precision-cut lens of personal experience and decades of study across history, mythology, and theology.

Why Destiny still matters

The principle of Destiny continues to be highly significant. Ever since its inception, the original metaphysical phenomenon is a persisting major entity answering humanity's desire for order and meaning. Destiny and its related maxims continue to play a leading role in our lives all over the world. We might not always think about or know what exactly Destiny comprises, but we can be sure that it is always right there.

What I'm not here to do

N.B. I don’t ask anyone to believe that Destiny exists as a factual cosmic force. I’m not here to convince you of anything. Because nobody knows. But its continued significance whispers something profoundly human about how we try to make sense of the unknown and the unseen, how we strive to tackle our fears. Our species has needed and used this concept for thousands of years. The backstory of Destiny, fate, and luck tells us a lot about ourselves. There are no scientific descriptions of objective mystical realities. But there are phenomenal frameworks that our foremothers, at the very least, co-created to weave a sense of clarity and certainty into life’s puzzling randomness and apparent absurdity.

What we gain from understanding these forces

Understanding these forces has its perks: sharper self-awareness about how we actually arrive at our choices; resilience when life falls apart; resistance against those who exploit belief for manipulation; cultural literacy in a world where karma, kismet, providence, and tian ming still influence the lives of billions; and, counterintuitively, greater agency. The appreciation of what we cannot control sharpens our focus on what we can. I for one know that to work very well.

Why now

Whether we like it or not, Destiny is everywhere and of impressive historical and modern relevance. Since there is so much to discover about this singular ancient supra force, its origins, genesis and its enduring importance across all cultures, the time is now to update our awareness. That's why I write about Destiny, with a capital D, and its connected realms.
